44 most powerful automotive magazines from 22 countries this years World Car of the Year selected luxury sedan Lexus LS460, the ceremony was held and the prize was awarded in New York’s cars show yesterday. Second place was followed by Mini and 3rd by Audi TT. Lexus won in best design category where its competitors was Citroen C4 Picasso and Fiat Grande Punto. In ecology car nomination won Mercedes Benz E320 Bluetec, mercedes beated his competitors BMW Hydrogen 7 and Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion. In sports car section the winner is Audi RS4 and in second place BMW 335i and Porsche 911 Turbo the third. These contests started in 2005 and every year new cars are being nominated. On January 5th after first voting round the list of the best cars in the world looked like this: “Audi Q7″, “Audi TT”, “Citroen C4 Picasso”, “Citroen C6″, “Fiat Grande Punto”, “Fiat Sedici/Suzuki SX4″, “Jaguar XK”, “Lexus LS460″, “Mercedes CL”, MINI. And on April 5th 2007 the winner was announced - and its Japan luxury car Lexus LS460.
