Linux Bats in the Major Leagues in Alaska’s Historic Gold Camps

Linux Gold Corp. (OTCBB:LNXGF) has stepped up to the plate as it further expands its presence in Alaska’s historic gold camps. The company has recently acquired an option to purchase a 100% interest in 26 mining claims close to the historic Ester Dome mining camp near Fairbanks, Alaska for US$10.3 million in cash and shares over a two-year period. As per its October 18th press release, “on September 9, 2007, a major gold/silver discovery was located on the claims, with a potential strike length of 6,500’, width of 100’ and minimum depth of 100’ of high grade gold and silver values based on the sampling and trenching program completed this year. The area has been re-sampled and results are pending.” Placer gold has been mined around Ester Creek and its drainage for decades.

This latest acquisition adds considerable lustre to Linux’s position in Alaska, as it also owns the Granite Mountain gold-polymetallic-platinum Project– located approximately 80 miles east of Nome, on the eastern part of Alaska's Seward Peninsula. The company staked a 37 square mile area at the ‘epicentre’ of some of the world’s greatest deposits– surrounded by Teck Cominco’s Red Dog, (the world's largest zinc deposit) located 180 miles north, Nova Gold’s Rock Creek and Big Hurrah gold mines 75 miles west, their Khotol Silver project 60 miles east, and finally, Northern Dynasty’s massive gold-copper-molybdenum porphyry deposit (the Pebble Project) to the southeast. Red Dog is has over US$20 billion worth of zinc reserves and is producing 500,000 tons of ore annually. Indicated deposits for Rock Creek and Big Hurrah total 670,000 ounces of gold with an estimated Inferred Resource of 100,000 ounces of gold. Northern Dynasty has an inferred mineral resource of approximately 28 million ounces gold and 16.4 billion pounds of copper – certainly one of the world’s finest mineral deposits.

In early 2005, Linux acquired a 100% interest in the property by staking 148 State of Alaska 160-acre mining claims at several locations near Granite Mountain. Work done in the 1960s suggests that the property deserves additional exploration. To date, mapping and geochemical sampling has enabled the company to outline a two-mile mineralized zone with favorable discovery potential. The company’s consulting geologist for the project, Robert B. Murray, is currently completing a NI 43-101 report on the property. In September 2006, a drilling program on the property was completed, testing four separate mineralized zones. Further exploration work to confirm gold and silver values on the property is planned pending additional financing.

The USGS’ fact sheet entitled Regional Geologic, Geochemical, Geophysical, and Mineral Deposit Data for Economic Development in Alaska in the 21st Century confirms the immense base-metal resources of the Seward Peninsula: “Since the gold rush of the late 19th century, it has been recognized that the mineral endowment of the Seward Peninsula, Alaska, is considerable. The well-known placer gold operations have had significant historic production and continue operating to this day. Lode gold production has also occurred. The potential for base-metal deposits (Pb, Zn, Cu) has attracted exploration to the peninsula for decades, but the extent of that resource is unknown. Scattered across the Seward Peninsula, in an area 150 x 200 km, are numerous prospects and occurrences of stratiform massive sulfides.”

Linux also owns a 50% interest in 30 mineral claims known as the Fish Creek Prospect, located in the Fairbanks Mining Division in Alaska. The claims are located only six miles from Kinross’ Fort Knox mill. Linux has a 50/50 joint-venture with Teryl Resources Corp. (TSX.V:TRC) in the Fish Creek claims, in which Linux will spend US$500,000 on the project over three years. Linux Gold Corp. retains a 5% net smelter return or may convert into a 25% working interest. The Fish Creek claims are part of Teryl’s Alaskan holdings, which also include the Gil Project, the Stepovich claims, and the West Ridge property – all in the Fairbanks Mining District. Teryl is one of the main landowners in the district, with holdings contiguous to Kinross’ Fort Knox Project. According to Kinross’ Fort Knox Mine technical report, “the Fairbanks mining district is a celebrated placer gold camp with production in excess of 8.0 million ounces of gold since 1902. Although a significant mining district in terms of total production, it had only limited lode production until the discovery and development of the Fort Knox deposit in the late 1990s.” Fort Knox is the largest producing gold mine in Alaska, with a 4,000,000 oz Au ore reserve.

Linux and Teryl share something else – their president, CEO and chairman of the board, John Robertson, who brings an extensive business, mining and marketing background to both companies.

Management has diligently set about acquiring strategic properties near some of the world’s major producers in an area known for its world-class reserves and its mining-friendly political environment. This approach has yielded some great results so far, given the fact that it has been able to forge close ties with Kinross at Fish Creek.

The company is remarkably well-diversified in terms of its property portfolio, with projects near major former and current producers in Alaska, Arizona, China and Canada. Its accessible price point and Bulletin Board status make it especially attractive to American investors who wish to position themselves early on in the drilling stage in order to maximize their chances of seeing major-league near- and mid-term appreciation. With some good drill results we could well see Linux hit a grand slam.

Google's Last Dance! Could Semantic Search Mean The End Of Google?

As a full-time online marketer and webmaster I try to keep my eyes peeled to what is happening with the search engines. These complex creatures control the Internet. They truly are the heart, soul and brains of the web.

Unfortunately, they also control the faith of many struggling webmasters who are clawing their way to the top of SERPs in organic search. Being listed on these first page results for your chosen keyword phrases is the ultimate goal and it is often the determining factor in the success of your site.

Recently, I have noticed some strange movements with my closely watched keywords, especially in Google. Which shouldn't alarm anyone because there are often sudden movements and adjustments as Google tweaks and refines its algorithm, the complex series of formulas it uses to determine which pages and sites get featured.

It's way too early to jump to any conclusions but the big question on everyone's mind: Is Google Moving Towards Semantic Search?

Or more precisely will Google have to move to semantic search if it has any chance of surviving in our 'here today - gone tomorrow' search world. Most of us old folks can easily recall a pre-Google web. Is a post-Google web possible?

That's very hard to swallow but stranger things have happened on the net. But the real question should be: will Google have to embrace semantic search or perish?

Wikipedia defines Semantic Search or Semantic Web as the evolving process of taking all the content on the world wide web and "expressing it not only in natural language, but also in a form that can be understood, interpreted and used by software agents, thus permitting them to find, share and integrate information more easily."

As can be imagined, finding the formats and framework which all this data can be processed into meaningful responses directly related to a search enquiry is mind boggling. Technologies such as RDF(Resource Description Framework), data interchange formats (e.g. RDF/XML, Turtle, N3, N-Triples), RDFS (RDF Schema) and OWL (Web Ontology Language) will all probably play a role. Many believe microformats will be very important in this evolving semantic web.

*New Semantic Search Engine*

We now have our first search engine supposedly based on semantics or meaning: Hakia (www.hakia.com). Is it the first in a whole new wave of search engines generated and powered by the Semantic Web which is now tagged as Web 3.0? More importantly, can it compete against a more text based search engine such as Google?

Hakia has some great features such as highlighting potential answers to your posted question. For example, ask it a question like: What is the population of Seattle? And you will get an answer. But you will also get a gallery page featuring all the relevant information about Seattle: How to get there? Local Hotels, Restaurant Guides, Local Weather...

Of course, do the same search in Google and you will also find your information along with images and maps of Seattle. However, using Hakia will show you the relevant information faster because it is highlighted and easier to find. And in my opinion having a whole gallery page of information somehow makes your search more relevant and useful.

*Can Google Compete?*

Is this a better mousetrap? Maybe, maybe not... but it is definitely pointing the way to a better method of searching on the web.

Granted, this type of search engine has a long way to go to match Google's massive resources and obvious dominance in the search market. But even the most devoted Google user like myself must admit Google's method of ranking pages and content on the web is not without some flaws. Take for example the issue of Google Bombing where different webmasters influenced the listing of the keyword 'miserable failure' to point to President Bush.

Google has now solved that problem but Google is basically an elitist system where sites and content is judged by the PR ranking system and its algorithm and filters. One would like to believe it is a democratic system where the best and highest quality content rises to the top. One would like to...

For information is one thing but opinions and the quality of those opinions is something entirely different. Will the new semantic web/search be able to judge quality content and rank it as good as Google presently does?

*Problems For Webmasters*

Regardless of how the whole Semantic Web scenario plays out, it may have some consequences for webmasters and marketers. At least in the initial stages until you can adjust or optimize your sites to this new 400 pound Gorilla on the block.

One major concern is how will the literal translation or semantic meaning of your site's title and URL determine your placement in a semantically themed search engine? Although most webmasters know to place their major keywords in their site's domain name but if you cover many topics within your site this is not always possible.

Plus, does a Semantic Web mean everything will probably have to be tagged to the nth degree as we are seeing in blogs, social media and Web 2.0? Thankfully this can be easily done with free software such as WordPress which has tagging already built into its programming.

If we do get truly semantic search wouldn't on page factors play an even greater role for ranking? Special care would have to be taken as regards to your keywords and keyword variations. Great care will also have to be taken with page Titles, Meta Tags and your URLS.

No doubt, Semantic Search or a Semantic Web poses some difficult obstacles and challenges as we seek a more human response from all those bits and bytes. For example, will semantic search mean we will have more closely focused sites strictly sticking to the topic of the url or domain name. Will the semantic web be more restricting than liberating?

When it is all said and done, will we really be able to devise a computer/machine/system that will be able to truly interpret the vast stored knowledge and give us the right meaningful answers to our questions? Will it be able to be programmed so its human enough to not only understand but also interpret the subtle differences and meanings we have for different words in the whole context of a webpage?

Perhaps the most intriguing question, can someone take the present day 'www index' and then apply microformats or even new technology to this massive data and build a supplemental exclusive extension of the present day web? Turn it into a more semantic 'natural language search' accessible index. If such a gigantic feat was even feasible, you would also have to wonder who could have the resources to make such a creature possible!

As we have seen from Google a dance is not necessarily a dance and a slap is not necessarily a slap. Could an index be more than an index? It may be too early to tell but Google will probably be better equipped to quickly adjust than anyone to this new Semantic Web whatever shape or form it takes.

Zemeckis believed Jolie's exotic beauty, except for the tail, did not need touching up to play the demonic, lizard-like mother of Grendel, a half-decaying monster who also lives in the cavern.

Winstone, the East London-born actor with a booming Cockney accent, was not so fortunate.

Zemeckis, who used similar Hollywood technical magic to create 2004's The Polar Express with Tom Hanks, cast Winstone to play the movie's hero, Beowulf, a Viking warrior with legendary, dragon-slaying fighting skills.

In a traditional Hollywood action adventure film, the casting decision would be deemed ridiculous.

Beowulf stands almost two metres tall, has blond, flowing hair and a muscular body similar to a professional wrestler.

Winstone is just 178cm tall, has black hair, a pot belly and chubby arms used to lifting pints in a pub.

Beowulf is in in the physical prime of his life, aged in his latest 20s. Winstone celebrated his 50th birthday this year.

When Zemeckis first contacted Winstone about playing Beowulf, a story set in Denmark in the 6th century and based on the oldest known English language poem, believed to have been written in the 7th century, the English actor thought the director was kidding.

When they met and Zemeckis showed Winstone images of what Beowulf would look like in the film, he thought the director was insane.

Zemeckis, however, was convinced the portly Pom was the man for the job.

He was blown away by Winstone's performance as Henry VIII in a 2003 TV movie about the British monarch, but not by the actor's physical appearance.

It was Winstone's voice.

Spice Girls Hit By Email Hoaxer

The Spice Girls are claiming to have fallen victim to a hoaxer who has sent an email perporting to be from the reformed girl group.

Last week it was reported that the band had cancelled a show in Argentina, after an ‘official’ email was sent to fans claiming that their Buenos Aires gig had been scrapped due to high demand for their other dates.

However, a Spice Girls spokesman has issued a statement branding the announcement a “fake”:

"The Spice Girls would like to make it clear that they have not cancelled their Buenos Aires show.

"A story has appeared on several websites that includes a fake email and competition from the girls. The fake email claims that due to the demand so far in the UK and the US this show is going to be cancelled.

"The email goes onto say that they will be running some competitions for their South American fans to travel to the UK to watch a show.

"This is not the case and this email is 100% unofficial and has nothing to so with the Spice Girls."

The spokesman adds that the band hopes to schedule a gig in the South American city in February.

BMW X5 (2007 onwards model)

The doubts, back in ’99, over whether BMW could pull off the production of an SUV lasted, oh, all of a minute. Once you’d driven the best driver’s SUV of all, you were convinced.
The ultimate driving machine could off-road and although rivals sprouted up they never matched its single-minded focus. Inevitably though, its time came. So has BMW still differentiated wood from trees with the new one?

This car’s predecessor was the last car completed before designer Chris Bangle arrived. How to make it look new, while still seeming the same? Bangleise it. Sharpen edges, swoop where you previously were steadfast, focus on details with Kasparov intensity. The move works. We’re seeing lots of such ‘second generation’ redesigns (TT and MINI spring to mind) and, while the thrill of the fresh is missed, the X5, like those others, appeals. Perfecting what was already there, already liked: may not work a third time, but it does here. Details like the diode-rod rear lights and wrapover, 1-piece front wings add the jazz, too.

And where they’ve erred on styling, they’re revolutionised in engineering. For this is the first BMW ever to feature double-wishbone front suspension. Supposedly ‘purer’ (and as used in F1), wishbones are costlier and, such has been BMW’s mastery of struts, to date unnecessary. But the X5 is heavy, produces forces on a monumental scale, and struts simply reached the limit of their capacity. Wishbones it is then, along with optional rear air suspension, Active Steering and the active anti-roll bar device, Adaptive Drive.


Light on its feet
Unusually for a new car (if not so unusual for a BMW), it’s no heavier than its predecessor. So the enlarged V8 petrol, now 4.8-litres, is more than ample motive force. Will a V10 follow? Maybe not… but don’t rule out an M version (if they can find a name that doesn’t annoy Mazda). 90 per cent, however, will be diesel, which too has a power boost. The 3.0-litre straight six now offers 235bhp, and with 383lb/ft of torque, out-shoves the petrol by 10%. Surprised to not see the twin-turbo diesel? Don’t worry; sheer demand for engines has held it back, but the 3.5d will be here before 2007’s out.


Engines are last on your mind when you enter. Low shoulders and (joy) thinnish A-pillars combine with high seats for regality. And the cabin is fit for a king. Oozing quality, fanatical detailing makes the M-Class seem clunky, while the sweeping design antidotes the Q7’s Teutonicity. Caress the thick steering wheel, knead the metal doorhandles, hold the wacky, all-new gearshift in the palm of your hand; all feels right, feels good, works. iDrive has been improved too, with ‘favourite’ buttons on the stereo. Touch sensitive, you hover your finger over them and, in the display, it flashes up with 1 of 8 functions. Like it? Press it. Slightly genius, that.
Autos are now standard, as are part-electric seats. So prices are up 6% (but just 1%, spec-adjusted). 4.8i first, and you don’t care about increases when, jabbing the starter button, it fires with a woofling burst. Bwwwrrwomm! Greenies will hang you but they’ll have to find you first; less than 600 of you next year in the UK. This is a marvellous engine. So fast, smooth, sonorous, eager, fast; mated to the new six-speed auto, with near-instantaneous shifts and no slip or slack, it’s as eager as a Collie in a sheep farm. Go ahead, too; use the power, as the chassis can cope.



Driving
To best summarise the X5, think: car. No SUV is this agile, crisp, free from squidge, light on its feet, chuckable, biddable and taut. Equipped with active everything, the 4.8 test car turned in crisply, barely rolled, offered firm, biting feel, total confidence and none of the lofty uneasiness you should get in one so tall, with such off-road pretensions. Do the impossible, chuck it like a MINI; it not only copes, but rewards. And suspension fully bedecked with (optional) ‘Active’ monikers provides the most luscious ride. That smart anti-roll function only stiffens when necessary, so on straight roads, it’s disconnected.
Result? A smooth, even, absorbent ride that puts most other SUVs to shame, and mates with the V8 brilliantly. The deployment of 355bhp from so high a vantage point, has never felt so accomplished And the other 5,400 buyers, choosing the 3.0d? Not only does it go almost as well, with massive torque satisfyingly restraining their heads forcefully against the contoured headrests, they’ll be pleasantly surprised, too. Once warm, it sounds half-diesel, half-husky-straight-six-petrol; with near-complete smoothness, it appeals in its own right. Particularly given all that thrust, which will have you using words such as ‘mighty’, ‘immense’, ‘blimey’.


And it’s not just the shove, but the speed with which it arrives. As with the petrol, a new six-speed auto is fitted, boasting reduced slip and much faster shifts. As in, press the throttle and power near-snaps on, with no soft delay or slurry procrastination. If necessary, there’s an imperceptible downchange, then firing, warbling go. Marvellous, as is using the semi-auto function. The gearlever looks weird but fits your hand with instant familiarity, and works with tactile intuitiveness. Shove sideways, click forward to downchange, with shifts enacted almost with DSG-style speed and smoothness. It’s staggeringly good.




Accommodation
If you’re a 1.7m tall child, you’ll like it too, as the X5 now belies its name by offering a seven-seat option. For adults, the rear pews are tight, despite access aided by a grabhandle (demanded by the child forum BMW enlisted during development) and clever middle seats that fold even with an ISOFIX child seat in situ. Rearmost trim plastics are also, as on rivals, cynically knocked back a few steps in quality. But, on a par with the XC90, a handy family seven-seater it becomes, while the rearmost chairs fold flat into the floor to be forgotten when not needed.


Just one proviso. The standard car, without Adaptive Drive, isn’t as good. It’s still very capable indeed, still one of the best SUVs, but it rolls more and feels less confident in corners, while the ride takes a marked hit in quality. We also, unusually, would choose Active Steering here. Both systems are too light, but the Active rack is more direct and accurate, which compensates for some of the missing feel. It’s also easier in town, thanks to the variable ratio, and seems to suit the car’s character.


Verdict
Better in almost every way while still remaining true to the one Chelsea loves: the new X5 is an exceptional machine that even an anti-SUVist would have to credit. The 3.0d in particular is impressive, as it’s more real world without leaving owners dreaming of what if. They don’t arrive here until April next year (£40,085 for the diesel, £49,945 for V8 – plus the cost of ‘Adaptive Drive’) but you can bet the queues will be forming, quickly depleting 2007’s allocation. That’s what happens when, conscious-straining credentials apart, you encounter a vehicle that’s so capable, been so comprehensively well-developed, is simply so damn good.

What is it?
The S-Class Mercedes has long been toted as the “affordable” way to get into luxury motoring, comparing favourably with Bentleys and Rolls-Royces costing several times the price. But the S-Class that the majority buy is not one of those with a great big V8 petrol engine, but the humble diesel. Even those that can afford to spend £60k-plus on a car can’t ignore fuel costs these days. There is currently only one diesel S-Class, the 320 CDI. It’s only a three-litre despite the badging, but this all-new 235bhp V6 is a fine engine. Seven speed automatic transmission is standard, as is an automatic parking brake and a host of safety and technical features. Long-wheelbase models cost an additional £4k. This combination of power, luxury, safety and frugality may make this car a candidate to be the best all-round car in the world…
Where does it fit?
£55,000 is the entry into the S-Class range and gets you either this 320 CDI or an S280; you’ll want to add at least £5k to that to spec it up. An endlessly intriguing feature is the Distronic cruise control, which uses radar to detect a car in front and brake the Mercedes to an appropriate speed (£1,840). The multi-contour front seats, complete with ventilation, are a nice option too at £880, though £1,100 for noise-insulating glass seems a step too far. Key rivals include the Jaguar XJ, BMW 7 Series, Audi A8, Lexus LS and, if you tolerate the lack of prestige, a VW Phaeton.


Is it for you?
If you are in the market for a luxury car, the S-Class has to be on your short list. The brand is, despite recent blips, still unsurpassed in terms of prestige. Mercedes has also managed to move from one model to the next without falling foul of controversy around the styling, factors that have affected both BMW and Jaguar. The bulging wheel arches are perhaps not what was expected but the look of the S-Class is harmonious and well judged.
What does it do well?
Of the many facets of the S-Class, it is the comfort that hits home first and hardest. The test car had the optional multi-contour front seats with a further option of ‘comfort headrests’. The result is sublime seat comfort with sufficient adjustment for occupants of every size. The air-damped suspension, with damping that adapts according to your driving style or can be overridden with a switch, complement the seats perfectly. The new V6 turbo-diesel is an impressively refined unit too. Although it lacks the outright power of the petrol engines, it has plenty of torque and is fine in day-to-day use.
What doesn’t it do well?
The S-Class is really quite a hard car to fault. It’s arguably not as sporting as the BMW or Audi, but it’s a close call. The real downside is when it comes down to costs, both buying the car, running it and the company car tax bills.
What’s it like to live with?
There is no getting around that this is a large car even in the regular wheelbase format but, even so, the visibility is good and city driving is almost as straightforward as a motorway run. It is supremely quiet, even without that optional noise-insulating glass. Space front and rear is impressive, and the boot enormous. Many of the controls are accessed through a single knob on the centre console. Tricky at first, the argument is that the need for a vast number of separate is overridden by the “Comand” system. The radio display is simply delightful, mixing modern and old fashioned in a completely new way. The sheer extent of technical development is eye-watering. Night-vision is an option to let you see further up the road at night. Press the footbrake hard and it will keep holding the car until you pull away. And it’s hard to imagine a car with more safety features.
How green is it?
The 320 CDI is as a green as an S-Class gets, with a combined average economy figure of 34mpg in the government tests, a figure that we saw on the car’s trip computer too. That’s not bad for a car that weighs two tonnes, and vastly superior to any of the petrol engines. CO2 levels are 220g/km, so not yet at the top scale of the company car tax band.
Would we buy it?
Yes. Well, probably almost certainly. The S-Class is certainly easy on the eye, drives very nicely and offers supreme degrees of comfort. It’s not an overwhelming class leader, however. Rivals also offer luxury and have different characteristics that will make them more appealing to some potential owners. But would you be disappointed if you bought the S-Class? Provided your dealer lived up to the promise, we very much doubt it.

German-Style Potato Salad
Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds red-skin potatoes, cooked, peeled & diced large
2 ribs sliced celery
1 large red onion, minced
1 large clove garlic, minced
3 slices bacon
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp mayonnaise
salt
pepper
Directions:
Boil the potatoes until tender yet firm. Keep them warm after they have been cooked.
In a skillet or frying pan, fry the bacon. Crumble the bacon and set it aside.
Use the rendered bacon-fat to cook the garlic and onion in a deep skillet.
When they are soft, remove them to a large bowl and add the sugar, apple cider vinegar, mayonnaise, salt and pepper.
Toss in the potatoes and celery. Stir well.
Garnish the salad with the crumbled bacon.

Indian Potato Salad
Ingredients:
1 1/2 pound red or new potatoes, scrubbed & cut into 1/2" dice
1/2 tsp toasted cumin seeds
1 tbsp garam masala ( see following recipe* )
2/3 cup nonfat yogurt
3 to 4 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 tomato, seeded & cut into 1/2" dice
1/2 small red onion, finely chopped
3 tbsp coarsely chopped fresh cilantro
1 tbsp chopped fresh mint ( optional )
Directions:
Place the potatoes in a large sauce pan and cover them with cold water.
Bring the potatoes to a boil, then reduce the heat and let them simmer for 8 to 10 minutes or until they are tender yet firm.
Drain the potatoes in a colander then place them in a large bowl.
Lightly toast the cumin seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3 minutes or until lightly browned and fragrant.
Stir the garam masala, lemon juice, yogurt and potatoes together. Let the mixture cool completely.
Shortly before serving mix in the tomato, onion, salt, pepper and half the cilantro.
If you are using the mint, add that now as well.
Season to taste with the lemon juice, masala, and salt.
Place the salad on its platter or serving bowl. Spoon the yogurt into the center.
Sprinkle it with the remaining cilantro and cumin seeds and serve.
*Quick Garam Masla
Ingredients:
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp coriander seeds
1/4 tsp sesame seeds
1/4 tsp black peppercorns
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1 cardamom pod
Directions:
Roast the ingredients in a dry skillet for about two minutes or until lightly browned and very fragrant.
Grind the mixture in a spice-mill or coffee grinder or pulverize it with a mortar and pestle.
This recipe should yield about one tablespoon.

I’ve heard it said, and even seen it written, that blogging is better than SEO for getting traffic. Are blogging traffic or SEO traffic generation techniques better for you, or does it not really matter?

Actually, a lot depends on you and which you like best: blogs or traditional websites, and also what you want the traffic for. I also wonder why the distinction is being made, since anybody serious about internet marketing and getting plenty of traffic, will use both. There is really no need to choose one or the other. However, when I hear such arguments I get the feeling that it is more academic than which provides the more traffic. Feelings, however can be wrong, so it is worth discussion.

When you think about it, the type of traffic you get from a blog could very well have different needs and interests to those that reached your site after carrying a search on Google or Yahoo using specific keywords. OK, you can get to blogs from search engines also, and through the use of keywords, but if you are looking to buy something you wouldn’t normally log onto a blog, would you?

Let’s say you wanted the best price for a gross of Titleist golf balls, you wouldn’t visit a blog site. Similarly if wanted to discuss their benefits, you would go to a blog or a forum. Sometimes it gets difficult to tell the difference these days, since blogs are becoming increasingly more interactive, but you get my general drift. I hope!

With a blog you can advertise whatever you want to, and the same is true of a website. However, you are more likely to make a direct purchase from a website, and to seek information from a blog. Hence, the traffic you get on a blog are information seekers and those on your website may also be looking for info, but might also be wanting to make a purchase. So right away we can kind of separate blog readers from website visitors.

It’s not a well defined separation, but bloggers tend not to be looking for something different to what a search engine user is looking for. If you have a blog on your website, your blog page will be likely to attract prospects that will tend to be more regular visitors than those that are checking out your website. I suppose that it could be argued that the SEO traffic is more focussed because they have used your specific keywords to get to the page they landed on ,and blog traffic could come from ezines and other sources that are perhaps not specific to any product you are selling. Me, I would accept any traffic no matter where it came from, and quite frankly once the traffic gets to your webpage it is up to you to convert it to sales.

The difference between the two is that if you don’t make an immediate impact with the SEO visitors, you could be struggling to keep them returning to your website, but you are likely to have more time with the bloggers, since they tend to keep coming back to the blog. The SEO visitors might register with your opt-in page, but that only allows you to keep in contact with them, and you still have to try to induce them to return to your website.

On the other hand, the blog readers need no such inducement, since they visit your site each time you publish a new posting. That is assuming that your blog is on your own website, and not on the blog server as many (perhaps most) are.

Perhaps I am completely on the wrong track, but I will keep tabs on it and report on my website what my findings are regarding blog traffic and SEO traffic, and whether or not one tends to buy more that the other. It is useful to know, since for a website that is designed to sell products it can determine whether or not it is worth having a blog on your site or keep trying to improve your SEO.

That is a big decision to make, and if it could make the difference between success and failure then it should be determines mathematically and scientifically rather than by conjecture and opinion. It is scientific testing that frequently makes the difference between those that are successful in internet marketing and those that fail.

U.S. insists AP photographer a 'security threat'

BAGHDAD - The U.S. military on Wednesday defended its 19-month detention of an award-winning Associated Press photographer it has accused of working with insurgents in Iraq, saying he remained a "security threat."

Bilal Hussein, who began working with the news agency in 2004, has been in U.S. military custody in Iraq since he was detained in April 2006 in the city of Ramadi.

The AP has called for the immediate release of the photographer, who was part of an AP photo team that won a Pulitzer prize in 2005.

Since Hussein's arrest, "this case has been reviewed a number of times by the standing board that does periodic reviews of individuals in detention," U.S. military spokesman Maj.-Gen. Kevin Bergner told a news conference. "In each instance the recommendation was to continue detention because of the continued security threat that he represented."

Bergner declined to discuss the evidence against Hussein, who took pictures for the AP in western Anbar province, which until a tribal security push began last year was the heartland of Iraq's Sunni Arab insurgency.

Earlier this week, the Pentagon called Hussein a "terrorist media operative who infiltrated the AP." Berger said only that Hussein had been detained "as a result of his interactions with insurgent activities."

The military has said in the past that Hussein was detained for possessing materials used to make roadside bombs, insurgent propaganda, and a surveillance photo of a coalition installation.

AP investigation found nothing
AP president and chief executive officer Tom Curley said this week in a statement: "While we are hopeful that there could be some resolution to Bilal Hussein's long detention, we have grave concerns that his rights under the law continue to be ignored and even abused."

The AP's own intensive investigations of the case — conducted by a former federal prosecutor, Paul Gardephe — have found no support for allegations that he was anything other than a working journalist in a war zone.

Military officials are expected to file a formal complaint against Hussein in Iraq's Central Criminal Court.

"We are now at a point where that case is to be conveyed ... for judicial consideration," Bergner said.

A public affairs officer notified the AP last weekend that the military intended to submit a complaint against Hussein that would bring the case into the Iraqi justice system as early as Nov. 29.

Hussein, 36, is just one of a number of Iraqi journalists who have been held by the U.S. military without being charged. Reuters journalists have also been detained by the U.S. military for months and later released without charges.

Iraqi journalists and international advocacy groups warned Tuesday that prosecuting a news photographer is a worrisome precedent that threatens media freedom in the region.

"The judicial vagueness surrounding this case is disturbing and unacceptable," the Paris-based Reporters Without Borders said in a statement. "Hussein's lawyers will have to appear in court without being able to prepare their client's defense as the U.S. authorities refuse to say in advance what evidence they have."

Do you want to attract the bottom feeders looking for "quick and easy," or do you want to attract leaders who know there will be an investment of time, money, and effort involved.

These next few ads promote weakness and attract LAZY people. You will get a high response rate, but you are deceiving yourself.

And then there was: "Want a Marketing Miracle? Plug into Turnkey Global Marketing For Instant & Long-Lasting Success!

Instant and long-lasting? Right. This is the kind of junk you DO NOT want to advertise IF you want to attract real long-term leaders.

The next ad is a GOOD AD and variations of it have been used for two-three years now. The headline sorts people and grabs the type you want to hear from. Line two states a massive benefit/solves a problem.

The offer of the ad is a generic report. Lots of value. Provides the SOLUTION to a painful problem: Not enough reps.

"Attn: Hardworking Network Marketers. Add 20-30 People Per Week. 5 MLM Secrets Free Report."

People know if they are hardworkers or not, so only the people that know you have to work hard to be succcesful will contact you. The numbers in the ad are also very realistic and achievable. On top of that, the person realizes they will probably learn something beneficial from the free secrets and therefore they will be willing to contact you or go to your website.

Gates /Microsoft Part 1

One of the big news items in the last year was Bill Gates announcing that he was leaving Microsoft. It wasn't really an earth shattering announcement; he is intending to transition out of a direct operational role with the company over a two year period, and will remain Chairman of the Board after the transition.

I'd like to congratulate Mr. Gates on his enormous accomplishments in the technology industry. I would also like to applaud his coming transition to devoting most of his remaining career (which is considerable, since he is on 50 years old), to philanthropic purposes via his foundation. If he is as successful in his charitable pursuits as he has been in industry, the world will likely be a much better place for it. Warren Buffet's recent announcement that he is going to give away the bulk of his fortune through the Gates Foundation, is great endorsement to his promise in that field. I'd love to see him consider supporting my favorite charitable cause, Autism Research, with just a small fraction of that foundation's resources.

There is no doubt that Bill G. will go down in history as one of the pioneers and giants of the computer industry. Currently the richest man in the world, co-founder of the one of the most dominant and influential companies--he will leave the industry with a huge legacy. Not unlike most people of his stature, he is not loved by all--many tech industry folks have mixed love/hate feelings about Gates and his company.

The big question is what does Gates leaving mean for Microsoft as a company, as well as the technology and software industries as a whole?

One can look at this question from many different angles:

THE MICROSOFT CULTURE
Gates has had a major impact on the culture of his company. My own dealings with Microsoft may or may match up with the experience of others, but I'm confident its representative, since I have heard similar stories from other people who have done business (or attempted to!) with the company. What I find in Microsoft Executives is a group of highly intelligent, friendly, committed people who appear to be relatively easy-going, by Tech industry standards. At least this is what you see outwardly. If you look closer, you will also see extreme competitiveness, and I dare say, not just a bit of arrogance. Now these underlying attributes aren't totally unusual at market-leading Tech companies. But I think that at Microsoft, they are at a different level from most everyone else.

As nice as Microsofties are on the surface, I've always kind of felt like I really need to watch my back in business dealings with the company. This isn't based on paranoia, but my own actual experience, as well of the similar stories of many other tech folks that I know. I believe that this extraordinary competitiveness and arrogance are derived from the company's belief that it is the birthright of Microsoft to sell every single line of software code in the world--at least those that are worth selling!

These attitudes are a duel-edged sword for the company, in my opinion. And by the way, I feel that both the outward gentility, and the inward competitiveness, are extensions of Bill Gate's personality. On one hand, this has helped drive Microsoft to a dominant position in the industry. On the other hand, it makes it nearly impossible for third-party software vendors to truly "partner" with MS. Partnerships tend to be really one-sided, in favor of you know who. Sometimes great benefits still accrue to the junior partner, but often this is not the case. Given Microsoft's dominant position, this hasn't been too much of a problem for the company to date. But when it "comes back down to earth" and has to compete in the future on a more even terms, like the rest of us mere mortals--will this institutional smugness come back to haunt them? Microsoft has made a lot of enemies as a company over the years. Many have been vocal about their beliefs on Microsoft's many supposed sins. There is a far greater number that have kept quiet, out of fear, since they are dancing in the elephants footsteps. With Gates gone, will that fear subside?

WILL MICROSOFT CHANGE ITS STYLE?
The biggest issue here is that Gates has driven Microsoft to enormous success using a "fast-follower" mentality. Much of Microsoft's success has come from the acquisition of products/companies that have already started up a new category, or at least have technology to compete in newer, growing category. Very few successes, relatively speaking, have come from real innovations hatched from inside the company.

This has often been a criticism of Gates and Microsoft, but I think that is mostly sour grapes. You can't argue with success, and the company has executed this strategy extremely well. I always say that execution is far more important than strategy in the software business. But what is true is that Microsoft hasn't traditionally been an innovator; in trying to lead and create new markets and categories, it has largely failed. Even today most of the newer divisions within the company are money losers, covered up by the cash cows of Windows and Office. However, another big aspect of Microsoft's style is what I like to call the "Terminator" mentality. Often the first release of a new product from Microsoft is laughable, by the existing standards of that market segment. The second release may be much better, but still is often sub-par. Then in the third or fourth or fifth release--whatever it takes--the Microsoft product pulls away from the pack. This, in truth, is a strategy that would work well in few other places.

So what will happen with new leadership--will the fast-follower style be maintained, or will Microsoft try much harder to get out in front of the pack, from the beginning of the race? There are some innovators near the top of the new corporate structure, specifically Ray Ozzie, so I could be wrong. But frankly, market-making innovation is pretty hard to imagine, in a company that has reached the current size of MS.

These pasta recipes are excellent for dinners or parties.

In this article, I'm going to share with you three delicious pasta recipes that you can prepare for any occasion that suits you. The recipes are very easy and can be prepare in less than 30 minutes.

So, here we go?

Lemon Tuna Pasta



4 tsp Butter

18 Black olives, pitted & sliced

1 tsp Oil; olive

2 can Tuna; chunk, drained

4 large Garlic cloves, chopped

Pasta; penne, cooked and drained

1/8 cup Lemon juice

4 tsp Butter (add at end)

3 tsp Capers, drained



Melt butter with oil in skillet. Add garlic and cook 2 minutes. Add lemon juice, capers and olives and cook another 2 minutes. Turn heat to lowest setting. Add tuna & separate it (do NOT flake) with a fork. Heat through, stirring gently. Drain pasta. Add remainder of butter and sauce to hot pasta, tossing well.


Tomato Soup with Pasta



3 tbsp Olive oil

1/2 tsp Black pepper

1 small Onion, chopped

1 tsp Basil

1 lb Tomatoes, chopped

3 pt Stock

1 Carrot, sliced

1 cup Small pasta / broken vermicelli

1 Celery stick, sliced

1 tbsp Chopped parsley

1 tsp Salt



Heat oil in soup pot & gently fry the onion for 2 minutes. Add tomatoes, carrot & celery. Mix well with the oil. Sprinkle in the seasonings & stir together. Fry for 3 minutes. Add stock & bring to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes then add pasta. When pasta is tender, serve, garnished with parsley.

Both Pasta Recipes yield 4 servings

Broccoli-Pasta Toss



2 cups Broccoli flowerets

3 tbsp Parmesan cheese, grated

4 oz Fettuccine, broken up

1 tsp Sesame seed, toasted

1 tbsp Oil, cooking

1/8 tsp Garlic powder



In a large saucepan cook broccoli and pasta in a large amount of boiling water for 6 -8 minutes or just until tender, stirring once or twice. Drain. Add oil to pasta mixture and toss. Add cheese, sesame seeds, garlic, and pepper to taste. Toss gently to coat. Serve immediately. 4 servings.

PER SERVING: 168 cal., 6g Pro., 24g carbo., 5g fat, 3mg chol., 72mg sodium.

A Bankruptcy Attorney's Perspective

One of the most rewarding things about being a bankruptcy attorney is the ability to help people. I am really not interested in how people got into debt. That fact really doesn't matter to me. Whether it was from an illness, injury, job loss, divorce, overspending, or simply bad financial decisions, the situation remains the same. It may become important going forward in the future to that person. He may not want to travel down the same road that brought him into bankruptcy. For example, someone who did not have medical insurance and has a chronic illness may continue to incur medical bills that are uncovered in the future. For that person, he needs to make a change in his life, so that he doesn't become a victim to debt in the future.

I am much more interested in how I can help this person get out of debt. The overwhelming majority of people qualify under Chapter 7 of the U.S. bankruptcy code. Chapter 7 is known as a fresh start or liquidation bankruptcy, however, not much ever gets liquidated. Most of the people filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy have very little in the way of assets, very little in the way of income, in terms of being able to repay their debt and in fact, do receive a fresh start. In recent times, since the law change in October 2005, it has become more difficult for anyone to file a Chapter 7 fresh start bankruptcy case. That being said, the overwhelming majority of people approximately 85%, in fact, still qualify and receive a Chapter 7 bankruptcy discharge. The other 15% of potential applicants, are either not eligible for Chapter 7 or their Chapter 7 gets dismissed upon motion of the United States trustee. What happens in those cases is the person either switches to a Chapter 13 and does some form of reorganization under the Bankruptcy code or simply allows the Chapter 7 case to dismiss. That debtor is then eligible to possible file a bankruptcy at a later time in his life. The U.S. trustee's office at the national and local level does keep statistics on how many chapter seven bankruptcy cases are dismissed and how much total that is determined to be non-dischargeable. What is still unknown is what percentage of that debt becomes collected in the future by the creditors.

What I think is happening is simply Chapter 7 debtors who are turned down are finding alternative ways to deal with the creditors and continue to live their lives. There is a percentage, of course, that will file a Chapter 13 bankruptcy and reorganize and pay the creditors something back (somewhere between 10% and 100%).

What is XSL?

Remember the good old days, when the internet consisted of nothing more than a few simple websites formatted in basic HTML? Web design was so easy. You could just slap some graphics and text into a file, insert some HTML tags into the document to tell the web browser how the text should appear and what the structure of the page should be, and presto, the job was finished.

As time went on, web design became more arduous. Businesses, especially ecommerce businesses that depended upon their internet storefronts to make a living, began to present web designers with near impossible projects that were too difficult to complete with basic HTML. The data being used and the designs that were being implemented for websites required more versatile programming specifications.

What resulted was the evolution of new specifications and languages for creating web sites. Languages and sub-languages such as XML, XHTML, style sheets, and a host of other more refined and yet more flexible specifications were spliced together to take web design to a new level.

One of the most important languages that came to be in recent years is called XSL. What is XSL, you ask? Well, to totally understand what XSL is and why it is so important, you must first understand XML.

XML is a markup language just like HTML. XML was created to deal with the fact that HTML was limited in that all of its tags were predefined and it displayed data a certain way. XML has no predefined tags, and does not tell a computer how data should appear, it merely defines the data. So, using XML, a web designer can define all sorts of data and more effectively transmit this data to web browsers installed on different platforms that run on a variety of electronic gadgets such as cell phones and other handheld devices that now come equipped with internet access. In a nutshell, XML was created to deal with the fact that so many different electronic products now come equipped with access to the internet and email. These new devices run on platforms that do not always display data properly if it is coded using HTML. XML fixed this situation by simply defining data and not forcing the web browser to display it a certain way, because an XML file is merely a simple text file.

So, again you ask, what is XSL and why is it important? XSL stands for Extensible Stylesheet Language. You have probably heard of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). CSS is a style sheet language that evolved to make it easier for web designers to create a style for an HTML web page. Because XML is now so important, and because XML tags, as explained in the previous paragraph, do not tell the web browser how data should appear, a stylesheet language that was XML-based became a necessity.

XSL consists of 3 components. The first and most important component is XSLT. XSLT transforms an XML document into another XML document that can actually be understood and displayed by a computer. It accomplishes this by transforming most of the document into XHTML, which is a more versatile, cross-platform, XML-based version of HTML.

The second part of XSL is XPath. XPath is used as the navigator for XSL. XSL uses XPath to find parts of the source document that should match a certain predefined template. When XPath finds what it is looking for, then XSLT takes over and performs a transformation, turning the source document into what is called the result document.

The final part of XSL is known as XSL-FO. This component is for the final formatting. Once XPath has searched through the source document and used XSLT to transform the source document into the result document, the document then needs to be formatted so that the web browser will be able to present the document with the proper layout and structure. Simply put, XSL-FO is the part of XSL that produces the final output.

There are all sorts of helpful online tutorials for programmers and web designers to begin to learn how to use and implement XSL, but it would probably be best take a course in XSL at a local institute, college, or wherever you can find one. If web design is your career, learning it is not an option, it is a necessity, as most web browsers are now capable of understanding XSL. You can add new bodily sensations, such as a pleasant breeze that was not there before; you can make it lighter or heavier; you can change the rhythm; make things smooth or rough; cooler or hotter.

Keep changing the physical sensations until a most pleasant state is achieved.

After the code is embedded on the html file, and whenever your site is visited, the songs in the playlist will be buffered, streamed and played one after another. If your playlist has several songs, the user can skip forward or go back a song in the playlist using the media player controls.

Doing this setup works for many website owners. Through this you can customize the type of music being played on your site. You can even play recordings related to your product to boost product awareness.

Frontier is available in two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, and in King Cab or Crew Cab configurations.

Additional changes for '07 include a passenger-side seat-belt reminder light and new MP3 input jack for the optional six-CD changer. V6 models now run cleaner than before, advancing from Low Emissions (LEV2 LEV) to Ultra Low Emissions (LEV 2 ULEV) status. Option packages have been revised, and new packages debut.

The Nismo version (Nissan Motorsports) features special off-road shock absorbers and tires, underbody component-protecting skid plates and an optional active traction system with technologies such as Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist.



Lineup



The 2007 Nissan Frontier comes in four trim levels: base XE, well-equipped SE, more luxurious LE, and the Nismo off-road model. SE, LE, and Nismo are available in King Cab (an extended cab with auxiliary rear doors) or Crew Cab (four full-size doors) configurations, with rear-wheel drive (2WD) or four-wheel drive (4WD), and are powered by a V6 engine. XE choices are more limited.
Frontier XE ($16,050) comes only as a King Cab 2WD with a 152-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It does offer the choice of a five-speed manual transmission or five-speed automatic ($1,050). XE has manual-crank windows and 15-inch wheels. A Preferred Package ($1,550) adds air conditioning, AM/FM/CD audio, tilt steering column, sliding rear window and privacy glass. Buyers may also opt for a Power Package ($950) that combines cruise control with power windows, locks (with keyless entry) and mirrors. Cruise control is also available as a stand-alone option ($300). New for '07 is an Appearance Package ($550) that adds chrome bumpers and 16-inch wheels.

Step up to Frontier SE, and you can choose from six configurations: 2WD King Cab ($18,950), 4WD King Cab ($21,650), 2WD Crew Cab ($20,800), 4WD Crew Cab ($23,500), 2WD Crew Cab Long Bed ($21,600), and 4WD Crew Cab Long Bed ($24,300). Standard equipment includes air conditioning, chrome front bumper and grille, sliding rear window, AM/FM/CD audio, tilt steering wheel, and the 4.0-liter V6. A six-speed manual transmission is also standard. Options for SE King Cab include a five-speed automatic transmission ($1,050) and 16-inch alloy wheels ($400). Again there's a Power Package ($1,050) that incorporates windows, locks, mirrors and cruise control; ordered on the Crew Cab ($1,250), it includes a microfilter for heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC). Available only on Power-Package Crew Cabs is a power sunroof ($700). New for '07 is the SE Value Truck Package ($1,000-1,350), which includes the complete Power Package, plus limited-slip rear differential, floor mats, a bed liner for Long Beds, and a bed extender and alloy wheels for short beds.

Frontier LE 2WD King Cab ($22,900), 4WD King Cab ($25,600), 2WD Crew Cab $24,600), 4WD Crew Cab ($27,250), 2WD Crew Cab Long Bed ($25,100) and 4WD Crew Cab Long Bed ($27,500) come with all the standard features of the SE, plus power mirrors, windows and locks; fog lamps; chrome exhaust tips, door handles and exterior mirrors; remote keyless entry; height- and lumbar-adjustable driver's seat; leather-wrapped steering wheel; illuminated vanity mirrors; compass and temperature readouts; trip computer; sunglasses holder in an overhead console; driver's side seatback map pocket; and a first aid kit. Automatic transmission is also standard. Satellite Radio ($350) is available in either the Sirius or XM flavor. LE Crew Cab buyers can the sunroof ($700), Rockford-Fosgate audio with six-CD/MP3 capability ($850), and/or leather upholstery ($1,700). King Cab customers can opt for a similar audio upgrade ($550) that skips the fancy brand name but includes a vehicle security system.

The Nismo model is available as a 2WD King Cab with automatic transmission ($22,600), a 4WD King Cab with manual ($24,250) or automatic ($25,300), a 2WD Crew Cab with automatic ($24,650) or a 4WD Crew Cab with automatic ($27,350). (Nismo is not available as a Crew Cab Long Bed.) All share most of their standard and optional equipment with the LE grade, but add special off-road wheels and tires, off-road Bilstein shock absorbers, skid plates, and an electronic locking limited-slip rear differential.

Optional on 4WD automatic-transmission Nismo and LE is Nissan's Advanced Off-Road Traction System ($500-700), which includes Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control and Vehicle Dynamic Control. The less extensive Active Brake Limited Slip Package ($350) is available on LE and SE.

Available accessories include a hard tonneau cover ($1,060), a sliding bed divider ($270), a non-sliding bed extender ($260), a sliding bed extender ($300), a tow-hitch receiver ($410), bed rail caps and under-rail bed liner ($430), and side step rails ($300). Not all of these are available on all models, however, so check with your dealer.

Safety is improved for rear-seat passengers when you order the optional side-curtain airbags that cover both front and side windows in the event of a side impact, providing head protection. A Side Airbag Package ($550) that includes side-impact airbags for torso protection and side-curtain airbags for head protection is available on all trim levels, but only with certain other equipment.


Walkaround


The Nissan Frontier has a bold, aggressive stance, just like its big brother, the full-size Nissan Titan, though in less intimidating dimensions. The Frontier's wheelbase is more than a foot shorter than the Titan's but its overall length is some two feet shorter. This means the Frontier's wheels are closer to its corners, enhancing not only its stance on the road but its clearance for dealing with obstacles while away from pavement.
Frontier uses a bold grille design noticed by other drivers as it emerges and enlarges in their rear-view mirrors. Body-colored steel fender flares contribute to the Frontier's presence.

All Frontiers have four-door access to their passenger compartments. King Cabs have rear-hinged auxiliary doors while Crew Cabs have four forward-hinged doors much like those on a sedan or sport-utility vehicle. (There is no regular cab version.)

Frontier cargo beds are 18 inches deep and 44.4 inches wide between the inner fenders of the rear wheels, as well as 58.8 inches wide at the tailgate and 61.4 inches wide between the tops of the bed rails. Beds are 73.3 inches long on King Cabs and Long Bed Crew Cabs; 59.5 inches long on standard Crew Cabs. All Frontiers have tailgates equipped with a door-style lock.

A spray-on bed liner and Nissan's Utili-Track cargo security system come factory-installed on Crew Cab and LE King Cab models; these features on optional on Nismo King Cabs. Utili-Track includes special C-section rails: two in the bed floor, one along each top inner edge of the bed side rails, and one in the top of the bed header panel. Sliding cleats can be locked into position within the rails to secure a variety of cargo shapes, sizes and configurations. It's a great system and Nissan offers accessories that lock into it.

The GT is an absolute hoot to drive, making all the right sounds, hanging onto corners tenaciously, and delivering thrilling acceleration performance. The Shelby GT500 adds to the fun with its near-Corvette performance. It's quite tossable, making for good sport on gymkhanas, race tracks or back roads. Its solid rear axle can get bouncy on bad pavement, and you'll want snow tires (four of them) for Northeastern or Midwestern winters.

It may be retro inspired, but the Mustang is a thoroughly modern car. Redesigned from a clean sheet of paper for 2005, today's Mustang is faster and more agile than ever. It delivers the bold styling, rear-drive performance and affordability that have been Mustang hallmarks for decades, but it's smoother and quieter and better built than older models.

Its interior looks like a throwback from the '60s, but it's functional and well finished. Granted, interior space is limited, especially given its exterior dimensions; and the back seat might better be described as a package shelf.
